The research was designed the same way as the Kansas City experiment in that a couple of beats served as control beats, others received more officers to foot patrol, and others got less police to patrol on foot. This experiment aimed to test and discover the effects of different numbers of officers allocated on foot patrol on rates of arrests made, crime and attitude of the community (Walker). The experiment discovered that allocating more officers on foot patrol did not reduce the crime rate.
